DEP™ : Fresh-Water Degradable Elastomeric Polymer
Bubbletight’s patent-pending DEP88X™ was introduced in 2015. This unique plug sealing element degrades in ambient-temperature fresh water. DEP88X™ thermoplastic was formulated for outstanding tensile, tear, abrasion resistance and high elongation at high hardness. This amazing material has mechanical characteristics similar to NBR but dissolves into a lightly-viscous liquid when in contact with fresh water.
DEP is the only elastomer on the market that can degrade in low-temperature wells such as ones in the Permian Basin, Marcellus and Utica Shale plays, Russia, Canada, etc.
Our Material, Your Design
DEP is used to make custom sealing elements for frac plugs, gaskets, seals, O-rings, etc. DEP and can be injection molded and extruded. Bubbletight does injection molding of components in-house. Please contact us to discuss your project and its requirements.
